So I thought I'd do a special one since I've reached day 50.
Yeah... I know what you're thinking. What exactly is this, and more important, why the hell do I own it??!! Those are some good questions...
The first one is quite easy. This is a travel folding shovel, or as I would call it, a collapsible shovel, or as Wikipedia would call it, an entrenching tool. It's easily collapsed, can be set in different angles for shovelling or hacking, and is both quite sturdy and functional.
As for the second question, well that one is a bit tougher...
I know where I got it, and I have an idea when I got it too. The why though... I wasn't planning on digging any defensive trenches, that's for sure. I believe I got this when studying further north. There were less to do outside of school living in the middle of nowhere, so I bought myself some more hiking gear. Some pots and pans, a hammock with tarp, gaiters and of course this shovel. It might have been for my car, to use in the winter, but I have another, way better, shovel for that. I'm unsure which one I got first though. That's probably the only, partly, legitimate reason for having this shovel. I don't think I've even used it. I found it among my stuff last year and thought I'd give it to my mother to use in the garden. She always looses her small garden trowels, so I thought this might work there. Then I forgot about it and found it again yesterday. So now it's of to my mom. .
