Process Art - Invitation to Create . 今天我们又玩 invitation to create, 没有 expectation, 就想看看小妞会怎样做😄 她先贴 dot stickers, 贴了一圈, 然后剩下的全部都贴在里面, 她说里面这些 dot stickers 是在跳舞的小朋友们😍 外面站着三个人看小朋友们跳舞, 有妈妈, 背着书包的爸爸(两张 stickers 贴在一起), 和 teacher😄😄 只是 dot stickers 就有那么多想象🤣🤣 然后她也发现了两张 dot stickers 贴在一起就变成了 new moon 和 crescent moon😄 接着又拿 blue dot stickers 来剪, 因为她要做 semi circle (half) moon, 最近我们都有在看 Usborne 的 What is the Moon? 所以她对 moon phases 不陌生, 最后那些 washi tape 她就随心所欲地贴😄 . . . totschoolwithosh_artandcraft totschoolwithosh_invitationtoplay invitationtocreate transientart processart processartforkids totschool toddler toddlerplay toddleractivities toddlerlife homeschool homeschooling homeschoolingmalaysia homeschoollife earlylearning learningthroughplay playislearning playmatters playideas #兩歲 34monthsold 34個月 2y10m24d

September is Biodiversity Month which promotes the importance of protecting, conserving and improving biodiversity within Australia and the world. The 7th September also marks Threatened Species Day - what better way to teach our children about our unique wildlife than through nature based play? 🌿🐨🌸🦈🐚 We have teamed up with gumdots and puggle.post to host a month of play prompts in September. We also have a prize up for grabs for Australian participants! Australian animal figurines from puggle.post, a $30 store credit from gumdots and a $30 store credit from snowcherrymedia. Follow the hosts accounts and post your play prompts using the hashtag threatenedspeciesplay You can use the play prompts to set up an invitation to play, spend time in nature, read a story about the theme, do craft but most importantly spend some time with your little ones teaching them about our environment and why we need to protect it. . . . . . . . . . . . learnthroughplay invitationtoplay handsonlearning playbasedlearning earlylearning playislearning littlelearners learningathome playtolearn handsonlearning natureinspired learnthroughplay invitationtoplay playbasedlearning earlylearning littlelearners learningathome playtolearn handsonlearning natureplay adventuresinlearningandplay playdiscovercreate invitationtolearn learningatheart invitationtocreate playallday entertaining_kids letthembelittle sensoryplay

We focus on nature a lot in our learning - for so many reasons. When children are out in nature and are exploring, curiosity is piqued and anxieties are calmed. 🍃 . We love our wooden weather chart - it’s a beautiful visual reminder to consider nature. 🌧 . My boys love turning the dial to select the weather for each day; I love that it reminds them daily to consider nature! 💚 ⠀⠀ We will use this tool for Tyler this year to encourage learning about seasons, environment and the weather. ☀️ The tool is so simple and is perfect for preschool aged children. Beyond identifying the weather, Finn also enjoys discussing the temperatures: comparing the numbers and how they act as a measurement for temperature. 🙌🏼 . Grab this beautiful, interactive piece for children who are ready to learn about weather through a description and then add learning about temperatures to extend learning! 💡 . . . 📸: treasuresfromjennifer

Such a simple thought but mighty. ❤️ I hope today you can find a moment yourself to ‘play’ with your classroom set up, with the kids, the activities, the book you read them. Play is important for us adults too, and we can learn so much when we take a step back from the go-go-go of teaching and take a moment to be. 🤝❤️🌱🦄

*Be Careful* 🔪 🔥 🚲 Everywhere we look our children seem to be drawn to risky activities. From fire 🔥 to knives 🔪 to riding their bikes 🚲 as fast as possible, everywhere they see fun we see danger signs. ⚠️ In our culture we try to make things more and more safe, to almost bubble wrap our children. We’ve made it so safe that playgrounds today have become quite boring. They are not the same “hold on tight” or you’ll literally fall off the merry-go-round playgrounds they once were. On the surface this seems good, no one wants to see kids get hurt. But, our kids are now missing out on the physical and mental strength gained through challenging, risky play. One of the ways we approach language learning is through Montessori picture match work. There’s one card with both the image and a word describing the image, a second card with just the image, and final image with just the word. Working on matching all three together can help develop a number of key pre-reading skills such as pattern recognition and letter differentiation.

SENSORY BIN RICE Rainbow rice, containers and scoops=morning sorted! . Scooping and pouring is a real gem- it helps: Develop fine motor skills Learn about gravity and weight Muscle control Cause and effect 🌈 I recommend getting some scoops like these as they are brilliant for developing fine motor skills. . They’re not easy to master so may take a few times to get the hang of them so just persevere! . Mr 2 hasn’t mastered them yet but I keep offering them and I model using them so I’m sure it’s only a matter of time! 🌈 You can really use any containers for a bin like this. I used some muffin cases which were great for sorting the rice in to colours. . Sometimes I use containers that would normally go in to the recycling- containers with lids are great as they can add an extra element where they can pop the lid on and use them as shakers. . By the end of the play the colours will be all mixed in together so I pop all of the rice in to a glass jar and reuse it again and again. 🌈 What do you have planned for Tuesday?

Today was a good day. My kids are totally different when outdoors and E X P L O R I N G on their own! ✨ You see that five year old at the top there? He rocked that climber today! For the past year we have worked so hard on building his confidence, standing up for himself, and stepping outside of his comfort zone. He has always been the cautious child, the sensitive child, and the introverted child. Today, he made me so proud!!! He took risks, he tried new things, he interacted with new people, and he had a blast by just being himself. I couldn’t stop smiling! ✨ And then there’s the little guy, complete opposite from his brother. Willing to try anything new, not afraid to voice his opinion, or walk into a crowd standing tall. ✨ I can’t get enough of watching them freely explore, enjoying themselves and having fun! S is for Silly Soup 🥣 As this weeks Sound of the Week is ‘s’, I gathered different objects around the room beginning with the sound ‘s’ to play a game of silly soup! The song goes like this... ‘we’re making lots of silly soup, we’re making soup silly. We’re going to put it in the fridge to keep it nice and chilly’! My preschoolers all sat in a beautiful circle taking it in turns to pick up an object and sing the song. After one game, it led us talking about other words beginning with the sound ‘s’. Great activity for my school leavers as learning sounds can be tricky so this is a fun way to talk about sounds/letters. 🔤 earlyyearsideas earlyyears earlyyearsteacher earlyyearslearning earlyyearsplay earlyyearsteachers earlyyearsactivities earlyyearsphonics learningsounds eyfs eyfsliteracy literacy sillysoup preschoolerlife preschool preschoolisfun preschoolmusic preschoolactivities learningthroughplay learningthroughfun learningthroughmusic invitationtolearn invitationtoplay invitationtolearn learning playislearning learningisfun

CHICKPEA PLAY . We’re a bit in love with playing with chickpeas at the moment! There’s something so relaxing about using them to scoop and fill, not to mention the gorgeous sound they make when poured! . Pairing with them with our rainbow blocks made a great little play tray for Miss 16 months to explore. She spent ages filling up the shapes with chickpeas and then pouring them out, as well as having a good explore of the rainbow blocks themselves. . Of course if you don’t have these blocks, any objects to bury or containers to fill are going to be a winner. Give my older girls a tray of chickpeas and some pots and pans and they are in cooking role play heaven! . Miss 16 months is in a ‘dump everything out of the flisat table onto the floor and look really pleased with yourself!’ phase but I find she’s less inclined to do this when the tray is already on the floor! . That’s not to say it all stays in the tray by any means but it doesn’t travel nearly as far! And of course it means you can get your feet in to give it a good feel too (see photo 3!), which is really what sensory play is all about! . I set up a little ‘literacy’ area in the playroom as Mr 3.5 has been really interested in letter sounds and mark making recently. Then for the first 2 days they completely ignored it. I thought about changing it this morning and then suddenly they both became absorbed in it for such a long time!! See my stories to see some of the things they got up to today! A new item to the playroom this week has been the grimms magnetic board from babipur. I’d love to have the Grimms magnetic letters to match, but I can’t justify getting them when we already have these! Mr 3.5 was so happy that he managed to find all the letters from his name! We are currently on holidays right now visiting TEXAS (hence me being a little bit quiet on social media). While playing in the pool this morning, I decided to do a little impromptu interactive homeschooling lesson while in the “pool” about evaporation, which eventually moved into fun hands on spelling lesson writing on the side of the pool. So much better for a toddler to learn this way! Read on for more details... . . We started off doing hand prints and watching the sun’s heat make them disappear. It led to a lesson about where the water goes and evaporation. (Then we watched the clouds roll by and made guesses what each cloud looked like for fun). . . . Then our lesson organically moved into three word spelling. . (My son is 30 months old and very keen and eager to learn to read and knows the alphabet, the sounds each letter makes and initiates himself to name multiple items off the top of his head that starts with any letter i call out or he sees). So for any one criticizing that this could be too advanced for him, he is VERY keen and asks me! . . 1️⃣First he would watch the way I wrote out the letters 2️⃣ My son would sound out each letter. 3️⃣Afterwards, I would say each letter quicker together so he could start understanding that these letters were sounding out a word. He would attempt to sag what the word was and was super proud of himself when he got it correct! 4️⃣Once we knew what the letters said, we then went over the letter again slower so we could show the word broken down back into letters. *️⃣I was super amazed that it held his attention for half an hour and then we moved on to jumping in the pool and waking ripples. So fun! . . . learningthroughplay learningathome learnandplay playislearning playtolearn sensoryplay creativeplay kidsactivities invitationtolearn invitationtocreate eyfsideas phonetics toddleractivities toddlerplayideas learningthroughplay learnathome playathome funlearningathome playmatters playislearning playbasedlearning toddlerplay

Learning Towers - Little ones love helping in the kitchen, but bar stools and counter tops aren't the safest options. With adjustable heights, and safety railing, learning towers foster independence and provide safe opportunities for kids to participate side-by-side with parents and older siblings. Involving children in cooking and baking provides practical experience with key skills such as reading, measuring, direction taking, and kitchen safety. While also encouraging the development of fine motor skills and hand eye coordination. Involvement from a young age is the first step towards developing and promoting a healthy relationship with food. Saw this fab idea from 7daysofplay and knew my little ones would love it... and they really did!⁣ ⁣ It was so quick and easy to make together, using an old egg carton. The kids particularly loved filling the seats with lots of different passengers!⁣ ⁣ eyfs learningthroughplay childminder eyfsteachersofinstagram childmindersofinstagram preschool nursery earlyyears playislearning playideastoddleractivities peppapig mrmen londonbus

“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” - Fred Rogers . . It’s amazing to me what the boys create when given the space and freedom to play and be artistic. The imagination, the color, the life they bring to each day! I’m thankful for the opportunity to take part in the world they are shaping. . . . . . . . . boymom momofboys blessedwithboys childhood childhoodisprecious playislearning createandcultivate momlife boymomlife fredrogers misterrogers momofmultiples twinmom twinmama twinmsmaplusone wahm sahm poshbycristina
