It’s craft time! - Rainbow Rice
I’ve always been meaning to make this for my kiddies, even since Jamie was young but always thought that it was too much trouble. Boy was I wrong! It was so easy to do.
On Sunday morning, I had some housework to do so I decided to set up the rainbow Rice in a tub with some kitchen utensils... this gave my a whole hour to do my chores! The boys played contently all by themselves (so rare!), firstly just enjoying the texture of the rice running through their fingers and then followed by lots of creative play - making ice creams, making milkshakes and even doing treasure hunts in the rice.
So here’s the easy peasy recipe:
2 cups white rice
2 Tbs vinegar
10 drops of food colouring
Shake shake shake in a zip lock bag to mix.
Like a baking tray with baking paper.
Pour coloured rice onto the tray and spread into a thin layer.
Bake for 20min at 180 degrees (you can also let it air dry but it will take 1-2 hours).
Voila! Rainbow Rice!
Repeat with different colours. You can also double or triple the recipe for even more fun!
The beauty of this recipe is that once dry, the colour does not run onto little fingers and hands.
Have fun little ones! 🌈 🍚
