I spent a little time in the studio making more of these pinched wine cups over the last couple days. Good thing too, because they sold out quickly yesterday. Fret not, more to come next week!
We recently switched our main clay to standard563 . It offers a bright white canvas for our (often transparent) glazes. I like it very much... and the shrinkage rate is 14%! For those of you who don’t know, that’s a lot! 10-11% is more typical at mid range firing. To put it another way, if I throw a 10” vase, it will be just a smidge over 8 1/2” once complete. I like this video because it demonstrates how large these wine cups start out so they can finish as a perfect pinched size.
